A event titled ‘Tu Mera Buddy’ to train the teachers of college as Senior Buddies was organized in the Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala under the guidance of Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar. This Buddy Project has been initiated by Chief Minister of Punjab Capt. Amrinder Singh is the country’s largest self monitoring drug abuse prevention programme. The basic aim behind this programme is to reach out to the each and every corner of the society to inculcate the spirit of healthy living and to prevent the use of drugs amongst the people of Punjab.
Nodal officer of Buddy Programme Dr. Rajeev Sharma imparted training to the senior buddies to target the college students of each and every class. He also motivated them to involve buddies in various activities and also to involve their parents in the project. Senior buddies by developing a cordial relation with the buddies can identify the drug abusers and counsel them to return to main stream. Senior buddies can train the buddies to say NO TO DRUGS by learning life skills and involving themselves in various activities like sports, hobbies, NCC, NSS and other constructive activities. Dr. Baljinder Kaur, Vice Principal of the College advised the Senior Buddies to implement the programme effectively. All the Senior Buddies and other staff members were present in this important event.
